Apple versus Samsung: Apple finally Posts an ‘Apology’ to Samsung on U.K. Website

Apple has posted a notice on its website which says that Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Tab 8.9 and Tab 7.7 did not contravene in any way the Apple’s design patent for iPad. The notice is accessible via the link on apple.co.uk. In the notice Apple recognizes the fact that the High Court of Justice of England and Wales has concluded that the Samsung Galaxy Lineup does not breach the Apple’s design patent for the iPad. Apple was required to tender the notice as per the orders of the court. However what follows the notice is even more interesting. Apple took the opportunity to blow its own horn and try to magnify the portions of the ruling in which the judge criticize Samsung Galaxy Tablets for not being so cool and chic like the iPad. Apple also highlight the fact that Judges in Germany and US have ruled in its favor on patent infringement cases involving Samsung. Apple did not tender the apology easily. It was July when Judge Colin Birss of the High Court asked Apple to tender an apology note on its website and also publish an ad in leading newspapers and magazines saying that Samsung copy the iPad when it designed its Glaxy range of Tablets. It was too much for the Cupertino Giant to swallow and it appealed against the decision. Apple concludes by pointing out that judges in Germany and the U.S. have ruled in Apple’s favor on patent infringement cases involving Samsung. Last week the U.K.’s Court of Appeals upheld the lower court’s verdict. It seems that Apple has decided say finis to the affair and not to take it to the U.K. Supreme Court, and posted the notice
